The act of making by hand is like no other practice. It brings out confidence and allows self-expression to grow and blossom. Making in a communal environment is a singular experience that creates bonds between those who learn, grow, and help one another through that shared experience.
Regardless of the workshop you choose, you will have the opportunity to learn in the nurturing setting of The Factory, a space designed to inspire creativity and community. Our workshops—Intro to Hand Sewing, One-Day, Three-Day, Classic Studio Week, and Individual Studio Day—were all created in the name of cultural preservation and education. The School of Making has taken great care to build spaces for open exchange of ideas and maker skills. Participants will have the chance to work in this environment, enjoy locally sourced meals, and explore The Shoals area and its many unique sights and sounds.
