“Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature’s peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves.” ― John Muir, Our National Parks

On March 1, 1872 (148 years ago this past Sunday), then-present Grant signed a bill that created Yellowstone as the nation’s first National Park. The home of Native American tribes and their ancestors for thousands of years, the Yellowstone National Park area was first explored by tapper and “mountain man” John Colter in the early 1800’s. In honor of this first preservation of national lands, this week to share the history and unique aspects of Yellowstone National Park.
