Swatch of the Month inspiration featuring Fabric Swatch in Large Polka Dot Natural/White using Whipstitch Appliqué; Fen Dress Pattern by Fancy Tiger Crafts; Fancy Tiger Crafts storefront in Denver, Colorado; Embroidery Floss; Interior shot of Fancy Tiger Crafts; Left: “Untitled”; Right: “Buds”, 1959 by Agnes Martin. From Agnes Martin, 2015 edited by Frances Morris and Tiffany Bell (pages 50–51).

Fancy Tiger Crafts, October’s Swatch of the Month collaborator, has been one of our wholesale partners for years, and in 2017 we taught a One-Day Workshop at their headquarters in Denver. They are a staple in the making community and have a range of sewing and knitting patterns available and an online store full of beautiful fabrics and yarns.

Owners Jaime Jennings and Amber Corcoran’s vision is to inspire people to reach their crafting potential through modern and sustainable supplies and quality instruction. They believe that making things by hand makes people feel better and that if more people made things, the world would be a better place.

They aim to be a leader in the world of independent craft retailers, to kindly and enthusiastically encourage crafters of all levels and backgrounds, to support local and quality craft-supply makers, to provide a wealth of knowledge to customers, and to provide a sustainable, rewarding, and fun work environment. They make a conscious effort to support and work with companies that make social accountability and environmental sustainability (like The School of Making) a top priority in their production chains. They aim to support the local and regional economy whenever possible.
