
The School of Making is always looking for ways to further learning opportunities and to connect makers through craft. Today we’re launching new workshop opportunities for 2018—from here in our community to across the pond. (Visit here to see a comprehensive list of all our upcoming workshops.)
In this six-week course, work with The School of Making team in a comprehensive hand-sewing course suited to beginner and experienced sewers alike. This class will delve into the basics of garment construction, common sewing techniques, applique, and reverse applique. This class is hosted at The Factory on Tuesday evenings starting February 20th and running until March 27th. Register here.

Monogrammed Tea Towel Workshop @ The Factory
Work with The School of Making team to create a set of hand-sewn monogrammed tea towels. Our Monogrammed Tea Towel Workshop includes discussion of the physics of sewing, reverse appliqué, and other techniques from The School of Making. This workshop is suited to beginners and experienced sewers alike. There will be drinks and small bites available for purchase at the café during the workshop.

One-Day Embroidery Workshop @ Selvedge, London, UK
In this day-long workshop, guests receive comprehensive instruction on hand-sewing and embroidery, including discussion of the physics of sewing, reverse appliqué, and an overview of garment construction and additional sewing techniques and stitches. This workshop, taught by Natalie, is suited to beginners and experienced sewers alike. Under Natalie’s guidance, guests will create hand-embroidered swatches with all necessary materials plus stories, laughter, and instruction. Register here.

One-Day Workshop @ the Hambidge Center, Rabun Gap, Georgia
Natalie will be teaching a Classic One-Day Workshop on the beautiful campus of The Hambidge Center, located in the mountains of north Georgia. This workshop includes discussion of the physics of sewing, reverse appliqué, and an overview of garment construction and other sewing techniques. Suited to beginners and experienced sewers alike, work to create a hand-sewn project from a selection of custom kits.

One-Day Embroidery Workshop @ The Factory
Our new One-Day Embroidery Workshop focuses on embroidery stitches and techniques from Natalie’s newest book, The Geometry of Hand-Sewing. Participants will receive a copy of the book as well as materials needed for the day. This workshop is suited to beginners and experienced sewers alike. Enjoy a locally sourced lunch from The Factory Café (a selection of gourmet sandwiches and salads, sweets, and an assortment of teas and coffee).
