We’re longing for warmer weather and thinking about late spring and early summer when our cardigans transform from layering pieces to simply “outerwear”. Here are three variations on the classic cardigan design. We love their range of fabrics and fit.

The Crop Cardigan

One of the first machine-sewn styles we developed through our machine manufacturing operation, this cropped cardigan has an open front and ruffle edge detailing along the front placket. It hits high at the natural waist and is made in our organic cotton rib-knit fabric. Recent Collection updates include the addition of Navy trims on our Black Core Essential styles. The Black version of the cardigan received a fun update with Navy placket and trims (and is now available in Twilight.)

The Ashley Cardigan

Inspired by Chef Ashley Christensen’s chef coat, our design team developed this style last summer. Added to our Core Essentials, the Ashley Cardigan is a staff favorite and is also made in a complimentary dress. Made in medium-weight organic cotton jersey, the top makes a comfortable layering piece and features pockets, a relaxed collar (made of rib-knit fabric), and hand-sewn snap front closure. We chose brighter colors for summer, and as we’ve moved into the cooler months, now offer it in Black.

Cozy Waffle Cardigan

Our Cozy Waffle Cardigan debuted in the Leisure Collection last fall. This cardigan is made from our plush waffle fabric and has on-seam pockets, extra-long sleeves, a double-snap front closure, and a deep V neckline. The ultra-relaxed style is ideal for lounging or weekend wear. We’ve added lightweight trims along the hems—a design detail that makes a beautiful complement to the weightiness of the fabric.

Find the Ashley Cardigan and Cozy Waffle Cardigan in our Valentine’s Gift Guide and The Crop Cardigan in the Collection.

P.S.: Fun fact—Did you know Fred Rogers’s (aka Mister Rogers) cardigans were made by his mother and were closed with a zipper instead of buttons?
