Our annual gift guide for The School of Making is here now—allowing you time to make your holiday gifts. Whenever someone mentions handmade holiday gifts, we often think fondly back to memories from our own childhoods, making hand-painted Christmas tree ornaments, woven potholders (made from multi-colored stretchy bands on a square plastic loom…you know the ones), pillows stitched by hand without the straightest of seams, and crayon masterpieces on construction paper. There is no doubt those staples of childhood gift-giving held a special place in the heart of every recipient (usually parents and grandparents).

The pride felt by presenting a handcrafted gift should not stop when childhood ends. That is why each year, around holiday time, The School of Making encourages every maker to slow down, create, and relish in that special joy that comes from making a gift for a loved one.

Whether handmade gifts are a tradition in your home or this is your first year joining us, we encourage you to start now to give yourself plenty of time to create each piece.

If you are shopping for the maker in your life, we offer a variety of fabric, notions, and DIY Kits that will allow them to create all year long. Our Studio Books, hands-on Workshops, and Natalie’s virtual sewing courses are how-to instructional options that go along with your project. If you have decided on a DIY Kit, we recommend you to shop now to ensure we have enough time to put together your kit and that your fabric color selections are available.
